The Indian Diaspora’s Resilience – Protests, Unity, and Hindu Diwas

Standing Tall, United in Purpose – 🕉️ Indian Diaspora & Hindus in UK

Namaste!!

To our amazing Indian Diaspora Hindu community and supporters, 🙏

Recently the Indian diaspora in the UK, including many proud Hindus, have been criticized and called “foolish” or “hypocritical” for raising our voices outside the High Commission of Pakistan and the High Commission of India. Some question why we are protesting in a country that ruled us and divided us. But let us understand why we stand tall and undeterred in our united purpose.

That horrific Pahalgam attack on April 22 2025, took the lives of 25 innocent Hindus (and a Kashmiri Muslim) and shocked Hindus of all backgrounds. 🕯️ This tragedy is a wake-up call to our community and the world, and it galvanized a global appeal to our community to unite, and seek justice. Here in the UK, we protested, not out of anger but out of love for our religious heritage and a wish for peace. 🕊️ We chanted Hanuman Chalisa, we waved our Tricolour 🇮🇳 and held solemn vigils in London, Manchester, Edinburgh, Reading, Swindon, Basingstoke, Birmingham, Belfast and many other places, while invoking the spirit of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam – “The world is one family.” 🌏

To those that have questioned us and called us hypocrites for living in the UK – let us explain; History as a diaspora and our experience has taught us resilience. 💪

Colonial rule divided us, but today, we have the freedoms of this land that our ancestors fought against to raise our voices against injustice. Don’t let anyone tell you that protesting peacefully is hypocritical, it is our right; it shows strength of democracy.

🗣️ We are not protesting to divide the nation, but to heal, unite, remember the victims of violence that senselessly took their lives, and most importantly, to stand up for a world where no community has to face such violence. We thank all members of the diaspora that came out, every voice raised to join us to protest for justice, and every heart in the 1000s of Hindus joined us in the cause for unity over division. 🙌

Let us continue to rise above the naysayers and critics with dignity and grace, demonstrating to the world what it means to be Hindu, showing compassion, resilience, and a commitment to living our dharma. ✨

This process of resolve, resilience and solidarity inspired Hindu Diwas, a global push to unite Hindus and bring visibility to our shared Hindu heritage and Sanatan values.

Together we are unstoppable! Jai Hind! 🇮🇳
